Compassion is at the heart of Jesus’ ministry. Time and again, Scripture shows us that Jesus was moved by compassion to heal the sick, feed the hungry, and comfort the broken-hearted (Matthew 14:14). As His followers, we are called to embody the same spirit of compassion.
Colossians 3:12 instructs, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Compassion is more than a feeling – it’s a call to action. It means seeing others through God’s eyes and responding with love.
One of the greatest ways to cultivate compassion is by stepping into someone else’s shoes. When we take time to listen, to understand, and to serve, we reflect the love of Christ. Compassion doesn’t have to be grand gestures; even small acts – offering a listening ear, encouraging words, or practical help – can make a huge difference.
Ask yourself: How can I show compassion today? Who in my life needs to experience God’s love through me? When we live with compassionate hearts, we become vessels of God’s grace, bringing light into the darkest places.
