In a world that promotes self-importance and personal achievement, humility often seems like a forgotten virtue. Yet, in God’s kingdom, humility is one of the greatest qualities we can cultivate. James 4:10 tells us, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” True humility is not thinking less of ourselves – it is thinking of ourselves less and putting God and others first.

Jesus Himself modelled humility in the most profound way. Philippians 2:5-7 says, “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.” If the Son of God chose humility, how much more should we?

Humility allows us to serve others with genuine love, to admit our need for God, and to let go of pride. Proverbs 22:4 says, “Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honour and life.” The greatest blessings come not from elevating ourselves, but from surrendering to Him.

When we walk in humility, we reflect the very heart of Christ. And in due time, He will lift us up.
