Culture shifts constantly. Beliefs once considered universal are now up for debate. Morality is fluid. Truth is now subjective. Christians often find themselves standing in opposition to a society that seems to be redefining everything. In the midst of this, we must ask: Where do we find solid ground?

Jesus answered that clearly: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35). God’s Word does not change with culture. It remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. It doesn’t need to be updated or rebranded. It simply needs to be believed and lived.

In Ephesians 6:13, Paul writes, “Put on the full armour of God… and after you have done everything, to stand.” Standing firm doesn’t mean being inflexible or unloving. It means being rooted in the unchanging truth of Scripture, even when the world moves in the opposite direction.

But how do we do that in practice?

First, we must know what we believe. Too many Christians are swayed by opinions and trends because they aren’t grounded in God’s Word. A deep knowledge of Scripture is essential. We must stop relying solely on sermons or podcasts and develop personal discipline in studying the Bible.

Second, we must understand why we believe it. Faith that is not thought through can quickly unravel under pressure. We need to wrestle with the hard questions, search the Scriptures, and engage with truth on a deeper level.

Third, we must live what we believe. The greatest apologetic in this post-truth world is not a sharp argument – it’s a consistent life. When our values align with our actions, people take notice. Truth becomes compelling when it’s visible.

Finally, we must speak truth in love. This is not a call to be combative or arrogant. Jesus was full of grace and truth. We are to represent Him with both courage and compassion. Truth should never be a weapon. It should be a lifeline, extended with care.

The Church today doesn’t need to be trendy – it needs to be trustworthy. The world doesn’t need more voices echoing its confusion. It needs people who stand calmly, confidently, and compassionately on the truth of God’s Word.

Culture will continue to shift. What’s celebrated today may be condemned tomorrow. But God’s truth will remain. And if we build our lives on it, we will remain too.

So let us not shrink back. Let us be people of deep conviction and deep compassion. Let us know the Word, live the Word, and share the Wordregardless of the cultural cost.

Because in the storm of shifting values, truth is the only anchor that holds.
