Doubt is a reality of the Christian life. Even the strongest believers experience moments of uncertainty. John the Baptist, who baptized Jesus, later questioned if He was truly the Messiah (Matthew 11:3). Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, needed physical proof of the resurrection (John 20:24-29). Yet Jesus met them both with grace.
God is not threatened by our doubts. He invites us to bring them to Him. James 1:5 encourages, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Doubt doesn’t mean we lack faith – it means we are seeking understanding.
How do we navigate doubt? First, immerse yourself in Scripture. Faith is strengthened when we stand on God’s promises. Second, engage in prayer. Ask God to reveal His truth. Third, seek wise counsel. Surround yourself with mature believers who can offer perspective and encouragement.
Doubt can either drive us away from God or push us closer to Him. Choose to press in, and you’ll find your faith deepened and your trust in God unshaken. The journey of faith isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about trusting the One who does.
