The digital world is now where many of us spend a large part of our time – reading, learning, scrolling, and sharing. For Christians, this creates both great opportunity and great danger.

The internet allows access to sermons, worship, Bible studies, and fellowship like never before. But it also exposes us to false teaching, endless distractions, and constant comparison. So how can we be faithful digital disciples?

Proverbs 4:23 urges us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Online, this means setting boundaries around what we consume and share. Not everything that is popular is helpful. Not everything that is spiritual is biblical.

Being a digital disciple starts with discernment. We must test everything against Scripture. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 says, “Test everything. Hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.” Whether it’s a trending reel, a Christian influencer, or a viral quote, we need to ask: Does this align with God’s truth?

It also means being salt and light in the online space. Are we encouraging or criticizing? Building up or tearing down? Jesus said in Matthew 12:36 that we will give account for every careless word- we might add: every careless post, too.

Let’s use the internet as a tool for truth, not a trap for temptation. Let’s be known for wisdom, grace, and joy in every comment, message, and story.

In a digital age, true discipleship requires vigilance – but it also holds amazing potential. As we stay rooted in Christ, even our online lives can point others to Him.
