As we begin the new year, this is a good time to reflect on God’s purpose for our lives and how we can live with intentionality. Each of us is created with a unique purpose, and God desires for us to walk in it, using our gifts and talents to honour Him and bless others.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Today, let’s consider what it means to live intentionally in God’s purpose.
Seeking God’s direction for the year ahead …
Living with purpose starts by seeking God’s direction.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
We are called to surrender our plans and desires to Him, trusting that He knows what is best for us. So take time in prayer to ask God for His guidance. Invite Him to show you the areas where He wants you to grow, serve, and make a difference this year. By seeking His direction, we align our steps with His purpose, knowing that He is faithfully leading us.
Using our gifts to serve others …
Each of us has been given unique talents and passions that can be used to bless others. Romans 12:6-8 encourages us to use our gifts, whether it’s teaching, encouraging, serving, or leading. God designed us with specific strengths that, when used for His glory, can make a lasting impact. Consider how you can use your gifts to serve others in the coming year. Whether it’s in your workplace, family, church, or community, there are opportunities to share Christ’s love through your actions. Serving with purpose not only blesses those around us but also deepens our relationship with God as we follow His example.
Setting intentions with eternal perspective …
When we set intentions aligned with God’s purpose, we focus not only on what is temporary but on what has eternal significance.
Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
An eternal perspective helps us prioritize what truly matters – our relationship with God, loving others, and living in a way that reflects Christ’s love. As you set intentions for the year, consider areas where God may be calling you to focus on eternal values. This could mean investing time in spiritual growth, spending quality time with family, or reaching out to those in need. By keeping an eternal perspective, we live each day with a sense of purpose and joy.
Embracing faithfulness in everyday moments …
Living with purpose doesn’t always mean grand gestures; it’s also about faithfulness in the small, everyday moments.
Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
When we approach each day with intentionality, we honour God in the little things, showing kindness, patience, and integrity in our interactions. Consider how you can approach daily tasks and interactions with a heart of service and love. By choosing faithfulness in every moment, we build a life that reflects God’s character and brings Him glory.
Walking in purpose with confidence …
As we move forward in the new year, let’s embrace God’s purpose with confidence, trusting that He is equipping us for every good work. By seeking His direction, using our gifts to serve, focusing on what matters eternally, and remaining faithful in daily life, we walk in His purpose with a heart of gratitude and joy.
May this year be one of intentionality, where every step brings us closer to God and His plans for us. As we live with purpose, we bring light to the world and honour the One who created us with love and purpose.
