Modern life is full of complexity – endless choices, packed schedules, and constant demands on our attention. For Christians, embracing simplicity is not just about decluttering our homes or schedules; it’s about decluttering our hearts and focusing on what truly matters.
Jesus modelled a life of simplicity. He often withdrew to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16) and instructed His followers to seek first God’s kingdom rather than worry about material needs (Matthew 6:33). Simplicity allows us to focus on God without distractions and find contentment in His provision.
Practically, embracing simplicity might mean saying no to commitments that don’t align with our values, limiting our time on social media, or choosing generosity over accumulation. It’s about aligning our lives with God’s priorities and finding joy in the essentials: faith, family, community, and service.
Simplicity is not about deprivation but about abundance – the abundance of a heart fully focused on God. When we let go of what doesn’t matter, we make room for what does.
