Life has a way of testing our faith. Difficulties arise unexpectedly – loss, illness, financial struggles, broken relationships – and in those moments, it’s easy to wonder where God is. The storms of life can shake us, but they also present an opportunity to deepen our trust in Him. James challenges us with a radical perspective:
James 1:2-3 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
Trials are not meant to destroy us; they are refining us, making us stronger and drawing us closer to God. It is in these moments of struggle that we learn to lean not on our own understanding, but on the unshakable foundation of God’s promises.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Faith is not about seeing every answer immediately but about trusting that God is at work, even when we cannot see the full picture. When we feel overwhelmed, we can take comfort in Jesus’ words:
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
No trial is greater than God’s power. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and when we hold onto Him, our faith will not only endure but grow stronger.
