Many people search for joy in life’s big moments – achievements, celebrations, or milestones. But true, lasting joy is not found in fleeting experiences; it is cultivated in the everyday moments of life. As Christians, we are called to “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Joy is not dependent on circumstances; it is rooted in Christ.
Jesus offers us joy that transcends life’s ups and downs. In John 15:11, He said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” His joy is not a temporary feeling – it is a deep, abiding confidence in God’s goodness, no matter what is happening around us.
Finding joy in the ordinary means shifting our focus. Instead of constantly looking ahead to the next big thing, we recognize God’s presence in the small, quiet moments – a child’s laughter, a kind word from a friend, the beauty of creation, the peace of His presence in our daily routines. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 reminds us, “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil – this is the gift of God.”
Joy is not something we wait for; it’s something we choose. When we cultivate gratitude and embrace each day as a gift from God, we find joy in even the most ordinary moments.
