Kindness is a reflection of God’s heart. In a world often marked by selfishness and indifference, acts of kindness shine as powerful testimonies to the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22 identifies kindness as an essential aspect of a Spirit-filled life. Kindness is more than polite behaviour or occasional good deeds. It is an intentional choice to show compassion, generosity, and care to others, regardless of their response. The Bible describes God’s kindness as leading us to repentance:

Romans 2:4  “Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?”

God’s kindness is transformative, drawing us closer to Him and inspiring us to reflect His love.

Jesus demonstrated kindness throughout His ministry. Whether healing the sick, feeding the hungry, or welcoming children, His actions were motivated by deep compassion. Jesus challenges us to emulate His example:

Luke 6:35  “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”

Living out kindness requires us to look beyond our own needs and preferences. It calls us to notice the hurting, the marginalized, and the overlooked. Practical acts of kindness – a listening ear, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement -can have profound impacts.

Proverbs 11:17  “Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.”

This week, challenge yourself to practice intentional kindness. Who in your life needs encouragement? How can you extend grace to someone who has wronged you? As the Holy Spirit cultivates kindness in your heart, you will not only bless others but also experience the joy of reflecting God’s character.
