Romans 8:31  “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Nothing creates greater confidence in our lives than knowing that God is for us! When we are secure in Christ, knowing who He is and who we are in Him, we are free to be all that God wants us to be and do all that God has called us to do.

This is the message of Romans 8. It reads like a magna carta for the follower of Christ. It begins in verse one with the declaration that “there is NOW NO CONDMENATION for those who are in Christ Jesus!” Verse two tells us why – “because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” The law can no longer condemn us because we share the righteousness of Jesus Christ by faith in Him.

But that’s not all, because of the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit we are no longer captive to sin’s power. We are set free to live for God! And because of God’s unfailing love, we can never be separated from Him!  This is the security of the believer!

What does this mean for us today? It means we no longer need to fear our past failures, our present problems, or the uncertainties about our future. We are secure in Christ! “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

In this chapter, we see that the entire Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is for us.

Verse 32 tells us that God the Father is for us and proved it by giving us His Son. “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Verse 34 tell us that God the Son is for us because He died and rose again and now prays for us at the right hand of God the Father! “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

Verse 26 tells us that God the Holy Spirit is for us, coming to our aid when we are weak and confused. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” No wonder Paul asks, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things?”

Read the entire chapter and make your declaration of freedom in Christ today! Don’t live another moment in self-imposed condemnation! God is for you! And if God is for you, who can be against you?

Even when circumstances seem against you, verse 28 assures us with this promise: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

If you haven’t made that declaration yet, make it now:

God is for me! I have no need to fear the past, present, or future! Even when I must go through the trials of life, I can rest in the assurance that God is for me, and nothing can separate me from His love.
