Waiting is one of the most challenging aspects of our faith journey. We live in a fast-paced world that thrives on instant gratification, yet God often asks us to wait. Whether it’s for healing, a breakthrough, a relationship, or direction, waiting can feel like an unbearable test of faith. But Scripture reassures us that God’s timing is perfect.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Abraham and Sarah experienced this firsthand. God promised them descendants as numerous as the stars, yet they waited decades for the birth of their son, Isaac. In their impatience, they took matters into their own hands, leading to the birth of Ishmael and unintended complications (Genesis 16:1-4). However, when the appointed time came, God fulfilled His promise (Genesis 21:1-3).
Waiting on God requires trust.
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
During these times, we should focus on deepening our relationship with God rather than merely waiting for our desires to be fulfilled. Delays are not denials – God is working behind the scenes for our good (Romans 8:28).
Consider how you handle waiting. Do you lean on your own understanding or trust in God’s perfect plan? The next time you find yourself in a waiting season, remember that God’s timing is never late – it is always right on schedule.
