Few things test our trust in God like waiting. Whether it’s waiting for healing, a job opportunity, a relationship, or an answer to prayer, the in-between can feel endless.

The Bible is full of people who had to wait: Abraham and Sarah for a promised son, Israel for deliverance from Egypt, David for the throne, Simeon for the Messiah. Waiting is not wasted time in God’s economy – it’s often the place where He shapes our character.

Psalm 27:14 encourages us, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” This kind of waiting is active, not passive. It’s not sitting idly, but living faithfully while trusting God’s timing.

In waiting, we learn patience. James 5:7 likens it to a farmer waiting for the land to yield its crop, depending on the rains to come at the right time. The farmer works, but he cannot control the harvest.

Waiting also deepens dependence on God. When our own strategies can’t speed things up, we are reminded that He is the one in control. Isaiah 40:31 promises renewed strength to those who hope in the Lord.

The challenge is to keep moving forward in obedience, even without immediate answers. Serve where you are. Invest in relationships. Use the time to grow in prayer and Scripture.

God’s delays are not denials. In His time, He makes all things beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11). And when the answer comes, we often realise that the waiting itself was a gift – the place where trust took root and faith matured.
