Generosity is a hallmark of the Christian life. We are called to love our neighbours as ourselves, and part of that love is expressed through generosity – both of our time and resources.

Jesus spoke extensively about money and generosity. In Luke 6:38, He said, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Generosity isn’t just about finances; it’s about living with an open hand, willing to give freely to others.

Generosity is also an expression of trust. When we give, we acknowledge that everything we have belongs to God. It’s a recognition that our provision comes from Him, and we are stewards of His blessings. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul writes, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Generosity is about the heart, not the amount.

Generosity brings blessings not only to the receiver but also to the giver. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35. When we give, we reflect God’s character. We become more like Christ, who gave His life for us. Generosity helps break the grip of materialism in our lives and cultivates a spirit of contentment.

Whether you give of your time, your money, or your talents, generosity is a way of reflecting God’s love. It’s a reminder that we are blessed to be a blessing. As you give, trust that God will provide all your needs and that your generosity will bear fruit in ways you may not even see.
