Life is full of seasons – some filled with joy, others with challenges. Yet, the Bible tells us that joy is not dependent on our circumstances but on our relationship with Christ. Philippians 4:4 urges, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Paul, who wrote these words, was in prison at the time. His joy wasn’t based on comfort or success but on his unwavering trust in God. Joy is a choice, and it comes when we focus on God’s goodness rather than our trials. No matter what season we’re in, we can choose joy by shifting our focus from problems to God’s promises.
James 1:2-3 also challenges us: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Hardship refines us, deepens our faith, and draws us closer to God. When we embrace trials with the right perspective, we grow stronger in our walk with Him.
How can you cultivate joy in every season? Start with gratitude. Count your blessings daily. Stay rooted in God’s Word. Surround yourself with believers who encourage you. And choose to see His hand at work even in the difficult moments. True joy is found in His presence, no matter the season you’re walking through.
