A traveller once set out on a long journey through the mountains. Along the way, he came to a deep canyon with a single rope bridge stretching across it. The bridge swayed in the wind, its wooden planks creaking with every gust.
The traveller hesitated. He couldn’t see the other side clearly through the mist. He tested the first plank – it held. He took another step, then another. With each step, fear gripped him. “What if the bridge collapses?” he thought.
Then he heard a voice from the other side: “Keep walking! The bridge is stronger than it looks. Trust it!”
Taking a deep breath, the traveller pressed on. Step by step, his confidence grew. Eventually, he reached the other side safely. When he looked back, he realized something – the bridge had been secure the whole time. The only thing that had wavered was his faith.
That story reminds me that faith means trusting God even when you can’t see the outcome.
Many of us stand at the edge of uncertainty, afraid to take the next step. We want to see the whole path before we move, but faith doesn’t work that way.
2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.”
God often calls us to trust Him even when we can’t see the full picture. Abraham had to step out in faith when God told him to leave his home and go to an unknown land (Genesis 12:1). Peter had to step onto the water before he could experience the power of Jesus (Matthew 14:29).
Just like the rope bridge held the traveller, God’s promises hold us up when we step out in faith.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Even when the journey feels uncertain, God sees the other side. He knows exactly where He’s leading us. Our job is not to figure out every detail – it’s to trust Him one step at a time.
Maybe today, you’re standing at the edge of a decision, a challenge, or an unknown future. The bridge looks shaky, and fear whispers, “What if it doesn’t hold?”
But God’s voice is calling from the other side: “Trust me. Keep walking.”
The bridge of faith is stronger than it looks. Step out, and you’ll find that God’s promises never fail.
