Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks us to do. We pray, we trust, and yet days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and sometimes months into years. The breakthrough we long for doesn’t come. The healing we beg for seems distant. The promise we cling to feels delayed. In those moments, it’s easy to wonder if God has forgotten us.

But waiting is not wasted time. Throughout Scripture, God’s people had to wait. Abraham waited decades for the son God had promised. Joseph endured years of hardship before his dream was fulfilled. The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years before entering the Promised Land. Even Jesus, though He was the Son of God, waited thirty years before beginning His ministry.

Why does God make us wait? Because waiting produces something in us that nothing else can. It teaches us dependence, deepens our trust, and refines our character. When we are forced to wait, we realize that God is not just interested in the destination – He cares about the journey. He is shaping us in the process.

Isaiah 40:31  “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Strength is not found in resisting the wait but in trusting God through it. The enemy wants us to believe that waiting means God is absent. But God is always working, even in the silence. His timing is never rushed, and it is never late.

When Lazarus was sick, Mary and Martha sent for Jesus, but He didn’t come right away. By the time He arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. They must have wondered why He delayed. But Jesus had a greater plan – one that would reveal His glory in a way they never expected. He didn’t just heal Lazarus; He raised him from the dead (John 11:43-44). Sometimes, God’s delays are because He is preparing something far greater than we imagined.

If you are in a season of waiting, do not lose heart. God is not ignoring you. His delays are not His denials. He sees you, He hears you, and He is faithful. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep believing. When the time is right, His answer will come – and it will be worth the wait.
