Waiting is one of the hardest parts of the Christian life. Whether we’re waiting for healing, direction, provision, or breakthrough – the silence can feel unbearable. But waiting is not wasted. It’s where God does some of His deepest work.
Isaiah 40:31 encourages us, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles … They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Waiting on God isn’t passive – it’s active hope.
Faith in the waiting looks like:
- Continuing to pray when answers don’t come.
- Trusting God’s timing even when it doesn’t make sense.
- Worshipping Him for who He is, not just what He does.
Think of Abraham. God promised him descendants as numerous as the stars – yet he waited 25 years before Isaac was born (Genesis 21:5). In that time, God wasn’t absent. He was preparing Abraham, testing his faith, and shaping his character.
Waiting grows trust. It forces us to confront our idols and ask, “Is God enough for me, even if I don’t get what I want right now?”
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” That kind of strength comes not from knowing the outcome, but from knowing the One who holds it.
So if you’re in a season of waiting, don’t lose heart. God sees you. He hears you. He’s working behind the scenes in ways you can’t yet see.
Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep believing.
Your faith in the waiting is never wasted. It’s worship. And God will honour it.
