Many Christians expect their faith to always feel strong. But the reality is, there are seasons when belief comes hard and God feels distant. In those moments, it’s tempting to question everything or hide our struggles behind a smile.

But the Bible is full of people whose faith faltered – Elijah hid in a cave, doubting God’s plan. Thomas refused to believe until he saw. Even Peter, who walked on water, sank when fear took over. Faith isn’t the absence of doubt; it’s choosing to trust God in spite of it.

Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” He doesn’t demand massive, unshakable faith – He honours small, honest faith pointed in the right direction.

When your faith feels weak, start by being honest with God. David constantly poured out his heart in the Psalms – anger, fear, confusion, and hope all mixed together. God isn’t put off by our weakness; He invites it. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Lean into spiritual disciplines, even when they feel dry. Keep praying. Keep reading Scripture. Keep meeting with fellow believers. These small steps are how faith is formed and rebuilt.

Remember, you are not saved by the strength of your faith, but by the object of your faith – Jesus. He holds you, even when you can’t hold on to Him. Trust that He is working in your life, even in silence.

Faith isn’t about feeling strong. It’s about leaning into the One who is.
