Psalm 100:2 “Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy.”
Do you rejoice when you worship? According to the Bible, we should worship God cheerfully and joyfully as we come before Him in song! Worship styles are irrelevant; what counts is the worshiper’s heart.
Psalm 122:1 “Let us go to the house of the Lord,” they said to me, and I was happy.”
Are you in agreement? This coming weekend, you and I have the chance to get together in our neighbourhood church with other believers in Christ to exalt the Lord in joyous and joyful worship. Anticipation is the first step, even before you enter the place of worship.
Losing the surprise and delight of worship in the routine of attending a worship service is one of the occupational dangers faced by pastors and others who attend church on a regular basis. Resist that! Jesus told the woman at the well steeped in her own tradition of worship that:
John 4:23-24 (MSG) “The time is coming – it has, in fact, come – when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter. It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship. God is sheer being itself – Spirit. Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
Allow this to fuel your worship this coming weekend.
Psalm 84:10 “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
