Psalm 34:15-17  “The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous.  And His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

The Lord is ready and able to assist us when we are in need. But He needs one thing before He will intervene and pour out His heavenly force into our circumstance: a righteous heart.

It goes without saying that our Father does not want us to lead faultless lives because he is aware of that impossibility. When a sinner seeks salvation from God, He purifies their hearts from sin and gives them a new nature (2 Corinthians 5:7).

The Lord invites us to confess and repent when we fall short because even believers occasionally behave in ways that are consistent with their old flesh. He will “cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). He hears us, thankfully, even in our flaws, as long as we choose to follow Him.

Psalm 34 reminds us that our heavenly Father want to hear His children’s cries. We often pray in this way during difficult times – with more intensity, emotion, and sincerity. Hannah is a good illustration. She went to the temple, distraught over her infertility, and cried out to the Lord with such intensity that the priest mistook her for being intoxicated. In response to her prayer, God opened her womb (1 Samuel 1:1-20).

Jesus has made it possible for you to cry out to our omnipotent God whenever you are in need. He will always hear and respond, either granting your desired request or offering an alternative resolution. You can put your complete trust in Him to provide the finest solution for you since He is omniscient, loving, and sovereign.

Cry out to God … and trust Him.
