“Christian community is not an ideal which we must realize; it is rather a reality created by God in Christ in which we may participate.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together, p. 30)

It was never God’s intention that we travel by ourselves. We shall always need God, people, and community as we navigate this life. Dietrich Bonhoeffer called it ‘Space Sharing.’ He was referring to how, as we live our lives, we share space with God and other people in a sense of community.

God is a triune God – three in one – there is a relationship between persons within the Trinity. Whilst we may not understand that, we know it is true. We also know that we are created in God’s image and as such, we are created to be in community.

God is present in every breath we take, and through interacting with other Christians, we can all share in a sense of spiritual community. Spend time with God and others whenever possible. How can you serve the community and the people in it? Who can you meet for coffee or invite over for lunch so you may encourage and bless one another while sharing life, praying, and conversing.

We embrace the fullness of God within us when we are together in community.

Psalm 133:1  “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”
